Exit Glacier

Our next stop was at Exit Glacier (enlace en español) where we took a short hike from the visitor center to the face of the glacier itself. After fighting some biting bugs, we reached a roped-off viewpoint with the ice right in front of us. The ranger explained that it got windy by the glacier because the temperature differential created its own micro-climate. The photo clearly shows the ice river coming down from the Harding Icefield. In a theme that started to get repetitive, the ranger and the posted signs showed clearly how far the ice had retreated in the last few years.
