| Miryam in Avila |
We took a few trips from Madrid over the time there, both to historic and interesting towns within an easy day's drive of Madrid. The first trip, with Miryam's sobrinos, was to see the gardens and palace in Aranjuez, home of some of
Hemingway's famous stories. The second, with Miryam's padres, was to the chilly and intermittently rainy town of Avila where we saw churches and monuments to
a very famous saint (amongst others). The town was fabulous as was our meal at a
beautifully restored restaurant situated in an old mill on the river. Overall we had a very nice visit to Spain, a mix of family and tourism with some sun thrown in as well.
