We made it up to Everett for the first takeoff of the 787 Dreamliner (enlace en español) and back to Boeing Field in Seattle for the first landing. Tobias sniffed out a place at the south end of Paine Field where there was no traffic, no long walk, ample parking, and an awesome view. Just before departure, the local sheriff opened things up and allowed us to stand within a few feet of the airplane, unimpeded by a fence. Almost forgotten in the excitement was the fact that one of the chase planes buzzed us at EXTREMELY close proximity. It was an amazing experience. We made the acquaintance of Bill Gillam who shot some video and photos of the departure from our vantage point (you can see us if you look carefully!).

Very cool! I was wondering whether you'd be there...
While you are enjoying Christmas in Seattle - I'm going to your parents house and helping them eat mince pies! I'll eat some for you!
