Jacob

Just before Christmas we spend a night out with Mike and Lisa whom we hadn't seen for a while.  Tobias is just getting around to some of his old emails and found this great photo of Miryam with Jacob.  It's hard to remember how tiny he was when he arrived, six weeks early.  Can anyone recommend a reliable brand of digital camera (i.e., not Canon PowerShot?!)

I take it that you've had issues with a Canon Powershot? Ulana and I have both used several models (SD550, SD700, and SD870) and have had good experiences. I especially like my 870IS, as it's more wide-angle than most point and shoots.

If you're deadset against Canon, I've heard good things about some of the Casio Exilim point and shoots. Although I didn't associate that brand name with cameras at all, they've received good reviews, and some of the models offer aperture and shutter-priority modes, which most point and shoots don't.

Let me know if you need more advice; I did a decent amount of research when I lost my SD700 a year or so ago...

Sorry Toby - we recommend the Canon PowerShot. Right now we have the A2000IS. I recommened any of the A serious. We used to have an A720IS. The thing is the A means it uses the AA batteries and has better quality (that's what the sales people told us). We liked it better than our other one. I have to say - CANON POWERSHOT even if it isn't what you wanted to hear.
