Ahijada

We took another trip to the DC area to try to see Miryam's god-daughter in rural Virginia.  Tobias drove down from Pittsburgh, Miryam flew from Seattle, and Miryam's godfather (father of her god-daughter!) flew in from Spain for this visit.  It was a great reunion once we finally got to the hotel at 11:00P.  With a parent present, we were actually allowed to see the young lady and ended up spending a couple of days with a crew that included her brother from Spain.  We visited surprisingly interesting Culpeper ("LOVE" photo at its train station), saw her school, visited a Spanish restaurant in Washington, stopped at the Iwo Jima memorial, and visited the lovely campus of Georgetown University.

One other thing - Tobias was privileged to enjoy a beautiful drive across lesser-travelled byways of Pennsylvania and Maryland on his way to Dulles.  Highlights were Brownsville, PA with its picturesque churches framed by the rolling hills and surprisingly rugged far western Maryland, especially the impressive Sideling Hill Road Cut.

Charlie Foxtrot avoided - but had we hung out a few hours longer it sounds like the dreaded lady in charge of the program would have caused THL management to vent in a most dramatic manner! Subject young lady is prevented from going to prom with a German exchange student by lady in charge...because it would take away from her American experience....
